Community Photo Challenge - Tree

I'm adding this entry quickly as time is just running away from me! This is my entry for the Photo Challenge this month. The subject was trees. I hunted through my files and found this tree which I saw on Rottnest Island, Western Australia, last November. I loved the way it had obviously been blown down when it was growing but still managed to survive and stand upright again! A lesson for us all maybe!
Now to try to add the link!

A new Photo Challenge

Our challenge this month is "The Colors of Autumn"Be creative if you do not have the typical autumn that New Yorkers have. We will be giving you a FULL month to find some AUTUMN images. Have fun. Post your photos on your blog, come back here & leave your link. The Challenge starts today & ends on Nov. 15th. The each challenge will be posted on the 15th of every month. We will be posting some changes in the challenge. So watch for the post. BUT for now, lets get out & find some beautiful scenes.

Hi everybody! I haven't been around on Blogger for months. I was so glad to see that Marie had started up the Photo Challenge again after the summer break.
A couple of weeks ago I booked to go on a trip to a place called High Beeches. even though it's only a twenty minute drive from Brighton I'd never been there before. It's funny how you sometimes miss the beauty on your own doorstep. I was very impressed with this place, the colours and layout, plus the variety of trees, was amazing. I also picked the very last day of perfect summer weather, it was in the high 60's, not a hint of a breeze and some fluffy white clouds and blue sky.
I thought this was the perfect place to share my trip with you and show off the beautiful autumnal colors we have here in the UK.

Thanks to Donna for the autumn tag. It's so nice to see you back making these wonderful creations Donna!

Photo Challenge ~ A Photo Story

Our Photo Story Challenge starts today & ends on Thursday May, 21st. You have a week to post on your blog a 3-5 image Photo Story. Come back here & add your link in the comment section of this post.. Please follow Guidelines. The post below shows an example & 2 links to show more samples of a Photo Story. If you do not have a photo software editing program & cannot display them on one document, you can post them all in one entry. They can be anywhere from 3 to 5 images for your Photo Story. Add some information &/or location of your photo story.
I told this story on my journal yesterday but for anyone who didn't read it here it is again.
Last Saturday I saw this poor seagull trapped under netting on an office block roof. He was unable to get out and seemed resigned to sitting there waiting to die. Another seagull had already died there, you can see him in the centre of the photo tangled in the netting.

I called the RSPCA and an inspector came out. She called the fire brigade to climb on the roof and rescue the poor soul, it was his lucky day!

The fireman climbed onto the roof and gently cradled the frightened gull in his arms, he brought him down to the RSPCA inspector.

Then he went back to free the dead gull and brought him down too

They were watched closely by these two seagulls who had sat watching the trapped bird all day, I wonder what they'd be saying if they could talk?!

The rescued bird was taken to the RSPCA sanctuary, he was weak with hunger but was given a meal and kept overnight before being set free next day.
I hope the gull will keep away from netting in future, he was so lucky that I spotted him this time.... next time he may not be so lucky!

Here's my still life, not very creative but I love my old lamp and wanted to use it! I did like the way the margin of the frame lightens up at the top and looks like the lamp is shining on it. I'm sure others will be much more creative than this, I look forward to seeing your interpretations of the subject!

Community Photo Challenge ~ Alphabet

The Alphabet Challenge in shapes. This main challenge may take months to create. It is a challenge, that I have seen before & I thought it would be fun. It will train your eye to find shapes & letters in everything you see. You should be able to find the alphabet in shapes & not use the actually letters in signs, try to use shapes & objects that you see in your journey through discovering the world around you..Once you've collected your images, you will then make a collage of all the letters you have found. If finding the whole alphabet is too much for you, you can just do the letters of your name.Soooo lets start here;Part 1 -You can start by finding the letters of your name.Part 2- The Whole Alphabet-optional.Once you have finish your name, post it on your blog, come back here & add it to our challenge comment section. You may continue & finish the whole alphabet, it's up to you. Both Part 1 & 2 will be included in the same challenge.I will leave a direct link on the sidebar to this challenge for easy access. Once you complete Part 1, post it. You then you have the option to continue to Part 2, if you want. For those unable to do a collage. You may enter each letter separately, but small, side by side on a post. Here are some exampleshttp://www.beyondphototips.com/2008/01/26/photo-project-the-urban-alphabet/

This challenge is really, as it's name suggests, a challenge! After not knowing where to start and not wanting to go out in the cold (it's 21F out there!) I decided to look around indoors for inspiration. With a little help from an umbrella, nail clippers, bag clasp and handles, a dumbell and fairy lights among others, I managed to at least complete my name!
Come on, let's see what you can do!
